Hello, and welcome to The Philosophical Frogman.
I am a husband, philosopher, and former Navy SEAL. I enjoy flying my airplane, Judo, wrestling, rock climbing, traveling with my wife, and any rigorous activities that challenge me mentally and physically.
When I was growing up I always sensed within me a drive to be the best, to be exceptional, to find the thing no one else could do and do it. Becoming a SEAL was the ultimate pursuit of that goal. I found myself surrounded by high caliber men who pushed me to be the best and would not tolerate mediocrity. After my time in the teams, returning to average American society was very difficult for me, as it is for many other SEALs.
There were things I was still processing from my recent deployment, and I felt lonely and estranged in the mundane, settle-for-less lifestyle that is commonplace in the civilian mindset. This all led me to deep introspection, contemplation, and searching for “la raison d’être”, the meaning of life. Thanks for stopping by.
